Ghosts in my Mind

by

Wenona Napolitano

A ghost lost in the real world
A writer lost in her mind
Words that never appear on paper
The best stories lost in time

Must bring life to the ghosts inside
Words that need embodiment
Specter thoughts that ache for life
Roaming, trying to find a way out

Ghosts lost in dreams
Yet bound with consciousness
Haunted by the voices in my head
Spirits longing to live

Ink is the blood, paper the body
Ghosts coming to life
I vanish into the words
and my characters begin to live

Bringing to life
what did not exist before
People that never breathed air
outside of my imagination

Mental illness cured with
the written word
I give them life on paper
and the voices vanish in my head

Poetic Womb

by

Wenona Napolitano

Form, thought, count, rhyme
stanza, syllable, couplet, verse
they all flow in my mind
fertile thoughts
nurturing words
try this, try that
create, create, create
thinking too hard
trying to much
needing to give birth
to greatness
but my mind is barren
and my pen is impotent

Still Thoughts

by

Wenona Napolitano

I think in poetic form
Jumbled visions forming verse
Dreams rhyme without reason
Cascading words flowing
through my mind
the best lines lost in time
Longing for paper
ink never becoming blood
to breathe life into
still masterpieces
