Know That

Know that
success and failure,
misery and happiness,
and cruelty and kindness
are apples which hang from
the branches of one common tree.

Know that
whichever ones you taste
are entirely your choice.

And know that
it has taken me a
lifetime of damning
the bitter fruit I’ve eaten
to figure that out
