Showcasing Our Own
by
Samantha Viles
Well you are all getting a free pass from a normal article for the month of September. I’d like to showcase some of our published friends and colleagues.
The Pens on Fire Book Depot is home to some of our talent. These writers have already made the decision of how to publish. How we publish is certainly up to us. Do we self publish? Do we work with an agent and / or publishing house?
I will start with Greg Freier. He is a fellow Iowan, writer, poet and playwright. He has two of his works, Sleepy Town and Thinking for Distance, published and available to all of you. He gave me some exciting news this week.
Greg has a one act play at the Roy Arias Theater in New York. It is showing in November as part of an Emerging Artists Theater fall festival. It will run from November 4-16.
If that was not enough good news, he also has 8 of his one act plays being performed in Des Moines the weekend before Christmas. Congratulations to you Greg!
Some other Pens on Fire colleagues with their works posted are as follows: Joseph McGuinness has his work The Light of the Sun, Robert James Bridge has The Black and White House as well as Hell Bent on Blackmail, Jeremy Schneider has My Date with Veronica Lake and the most recent additions of Hollywood Bowl and Last Man Out of Europe by Roger Cotrell.
I would like to encourage you all to check out their links and see a little bit more about these writers and their works.
I have one other item I would like to share. A fellow publisher contacted me recently with a request for some help. Lea Schizas, founder of the Muse Online Writers Conference and several other award-winning sites asked me to help put out a call to writers. She has two items to share:
THE MUSE ONLINE WRITERS CONFERENCE

and the other is a call for data for a new book she is cowriting:

They also invite parents/caregivers/teachers/and autistic adults to send them their personal stories.
