The War
by
Stephanie Kemp
Blank pages wage war against the pen
Defending its pure untainted surface from worthless words
Insignificant blurbs that mar its pristine plane
Profane ramblings of an ordinary mind defined by an ordinary muse
Blue violets and red roses
Supposing love in boring cliché
The same as yesterday
Rotten ink stinking of already written
Fluffy kittens and the puppy wagging his tail
So stale the page is malnourished without the flourish of a seasoned scribe
Alive is the page that fights against a stagnant line
The war continues
