Science Project

The rocket's instructions were missing
But I muddled through fixing
Its fuselage and puzzling parts.
Later, found something resembling a chart.

But even without the added help,
I got it together all by myself,
Then took it outside in the wooded field
To see what sort of distance it could yield.

I lit the fuse and stepped back fast,
Watching it jump off the launch pad at last.
It zoomed toward the sky past the treetops
And didn't look like it ever would stop.

My experiment was a huge success
But lasted briefly, I confess.
Without the proof that it actually fired,
My teacher might think I was a liar

I should have asked my Mom or Dad
To help me build it but now am sad.
Cause without the picture-proof I'd need,
My project's grade might be just a 'D'.
